Apple Monitor Information And Reviews - May, 2004 To December, 2004

Retired: 1/3/05

Just show me the prices

AG Neovo M-17 Problematic Display Disappoints - AG Neovo claims this 17-inch digital LCD, with its built-in speakers and two USB ports on the front, is the perfect companion to the new Mac mini. Unfortunately, the speakers leave a lot to be desired and the extra desktop real estate that this multimedia display requires may not appeal to those who bought Mac minis in an attempt to conserve space

30-inch Cinema HD Display - How huge is Apple's 30-inch Cinema HD Display? An InDesign magazine-spread layout displays at about one-and-a-half times actual size. Photoshop displays a 6-megapixel file at 66.7 percent with plenty of room left over for piles o' palettes. A default Microsoft Excel spreadsheet with View > Zoom set at 100 percent is 116 rows tall and 33.5 columns wide—that's 3,886 cells. Also at 100 percent, Word's Page Layout view displays eight pages.

Apple 30-Inch Cinema HD Display - Apple's 30-inch Cinema HD Display is something worth wishing for. The top of the line LCD display from Apple is, simply put, the most gorgeous display I've ever seen. It's sheer size dwarfs just about anything that could reasonably be called a computer monitor, but more than this--much more than this--it's everything you could hope for in terms of a monitor designed for professionals in the visual arts: color accuracy and consistency, performance and resolution

Cheaper Cinema Displays -- Reviewed! - Speaking of carrying things around, I also had to carry the power supply. Another bad design in my opinion. The days of monitors with external power supplies are over... except at Apple. The monitor feels heavy enough on it's own without the added weight of the power supply. Yes, I realize I'd have that weight anyway, but at least not the housing and extra wiring needed for it to be external

Cinema Display prices cut - Apple has reduced Cinema Displayby prices by up to $300

Apple Cinema HD (30 inches) - Viewed from a distance, the Apple Cinema HD 30-inch display is a jaw-dropper. The expansive, high-resolution LCD monitor has a sleek case that grabs your attention, even with the power off. The direct price of $3,299 is also likely to take your breath away. Apple touts it as a professional display, and while it has a number of impressive attributes, it falls short of its intended goal

30'' Screen without Geforce 6800 - I just plugged a 30" screen on a Dual G5 2.5GHz, but I inadvertantly forgot to swap the Radeon 9600 for the Geforce 6800 and BAM ! the OS X logo appeared ! a bit disoriented, I try Halo, and it runs perfectly at 1280 x 800

I just plugged a 30" screen on a Dual G5 2.5GHz, but I inadvertantly forgot to swap the Radeon 9600 for the Geforce 6800 and BAM ! the OS X logo appeared ! a bit disoriented, I try Halo, and it runs perfectly at 1280 x 800.
So, all in all, one can still buy the Apple 30" Cinema Display and use it with a standard DVI card until the ATI X800 and X850 come out!!

Power Mac G5 + 23-inch Cinema HD Display - The display itself, in a minimalist aluminum enclosure, features two adjustment buttons, both to control brightness. Any other adjustments are made via OS X . Images captured from my Canon Digital Rebel can be blown up at full resolution and displayed with minimal scrolling, especially in landscape mode. If you wish, you can also mount the display on a wall for other viewing options. The display just absolutely rocks

20- and 23-inch Cinema Displays - Apple's new 20- and 23-inch Cinema Displays are damn good-looking and good to look at. Video editors, graphics pros, and users who demand high-quality images shouldn't think twice about the $1,299 (20-inch) and $1,999 (23-inch) price tags

30 Inch Displays Now Shipping - Have you ordered your new 30-inch display yet? Why wait? The displays and their corresponding graphics cards, the NVIDIA GeForce 6800 Ultra DLL, are now shipping.

Report: Nvidia at root of 30-inch Apple Cinema Display delays - Following reports that Apple Computer has delayed its new 30-inch high-definition Cinema display into October,The Inquirer is reporting that the company's third party graphics card supplier Nvidiamay be to blame

Apple delays 30-inch Cinema Display into October - Apple Computer this week began notifying customers that it will be unable to ship its new 30-inch high-definition display until late October

What's Wrong With Apple's New Cinema Displays? - Apple’s always been a leader with classy flat panel displays. Pricey? Yes. Quality? Yes. And then some. So I was as surprised as anyone after installing a new 23” Cinema HD display. The old 20” display looked better. Much better. There’s something wrong with Apple’s new aluminum Cinema displays.

PixArm lets your Cinema Display 'float' above your desk - If you’re an owner of a Cinema Display, you probably don’t suffer from iMac envy – except for the fact that the consumer model’s moveable screen is way cool. Envy no more. You can make a swinger out of your Cinema Display with thePixArm from Marathon Computer

First Look: Apple's New HD Display - As with all things Apple, many of us have waited for the new Cinema HD displays. The wait is over as Apple is shipping the 20” and 23” displays (only the 23” carries the HD label). Since I’m now forced to wait until the end of August to get the new dual 2.5 ghz G5, I decided to pick up the new 23” Cinema Display. How is it? Freakin’ awesome…

Apple Unveils Three Of A Kind - Apple lcd monitor review reveals 30 inches of pure digital, active-matrix, LCD screen with a resolution of 2560 by 1600 pixels states Craig Crossman, host of the Computer America Radio talk show

Apple 30” Cinema Display Possibly Single Most Desirable Piece of Technology on Planet - Apple's cinema displays have always made Macintosh fans (and indeed most people with eyes) go weak at the knees. This time, though, they've excelled themselves with a new 30" display that is truly beautiful

New Apple monitors as cool as can be - There they were. Not one, not two, but three of the most beautiful color screens I've ever seen. Gone was the older but yet still very cool transparent plastic frame in which the former Apple screens were framed. The new models are now housed in a very sleek all-aluminum frame. The bezel around the perimeter of each of the screens is much thinner than the 2-inch frame around the former models

WWDC 2004 San Francisco: new 30" Apple Displays - Front view... huge

Apple's 30 inch-LCD display - The humongous 30 inch monitor, made of pure anodized aluminum, displays 100 pixels per inch (ppi), allowing the monitor to support resolutions up to 2560x1600. That resolution is better than most bulky CRT monitors are capable of, since most CRTs max out at 2048x1536 or less. A single 30 inch Apple LCD, which will become available in August, can display four million pixels. Apple will sell nVidia's GeForce 6800 Ultra Graphics Processing Uni

The Apple Cinema Display line - Feast your eyes on more than four million pixels in the first high-resolution 30-inch flat panel display designed for the personal computer. The Apple Cinema Display line features a gorgeous new anodized aluminum enclosure to complement the Power Mac G5 or PowerBook G4 and includes PC-compatible 20-inch and 23-inch models. The state of the art starts at $1299

Apple Unveils 30” Cinema HD Flat Display - Apple today unveiled a new family of widescreen flat panel displays featuring the 30-inch Apple Cinema HD display, a professional-quality, wide-format active-matrix LCD with 2560-by-1600 pixel resolution—the largest high resolution display ever created. Rounding out the new lineup are new 23-inch and 20-inch Cinema Displays, offering creative professionals and prosumers the highest quality flat panel displays in the industry. The new displays feature dual FireWire and dual USB 2.0 ports built into the display and use the industry standard DVI interface for a pure digital connection with Apple’s latest Power Mac and PowerBook systems, as well as PCs with a DVI connector. Two 30-inch Cinema Displays can be driven simultaneously from Apple’s new Power Mac line of desktop workstations, offering professional users a desktop of 8 million pixels

Sneak peek at Apple’s new aluminum Cinema Display? - Ok, so you’re finally going to be able to get a Cinema Display that matches the brushed aluminum of your G5 PowerMac: a friendly anonymous tipster sent us what are supposed to be (and yes, they could be/are probably fake) photos of the new aluminum Cinema Display LCD that Apple is said to be introducing at their Worldwide Developers Conference next month

Small prices for big flat panel monitors - If you're shopping for a new monitor, don't discount the larger-screen 20-inch LCDs (liquid crystal displays). Prices have dropped considerably over the past six months and the benefits are many. For starters, the screens are so large that you can comfortably work with multiple windows open. This means you can surf the Web on the right-hand side of the screen and type notes in Word on the left

Apple Rotating Display? - Apple has reportedly filed for a patent for a rotating display, allowing both vertical and horizontal alignments from a single screen

LCD Vs. Plasma Displays - Two types of technologies now dominate the flat-screen TV frenzy: plasma screens that light up when an electric charge activates a gas sandwiched between two glass plates; and liquid crystal displays (LCD), which create a picture using a charge that changes the alignment of the crystals. Although both screen types are used in TVs, they have been courting different segments of the same market rather than competing head to head. But that's about to change
