Crescendo G3 PB G3/333/512k - Sonnet (PowerBook1400)

The good news for PowerBook 1400 owners like me is that Sonnet Technologies' Crescendo/PB G3 upgrade cards can put a G3 processor inside the 1400. The bad news is, it's still a 1400 ... read more at Macworld

Mach Speed G3z G3/500/250/1MB - XLR8 (ZIF)

There's very little real-world difference between these upgrades. Each of the four accelerators runs at 500MHz and carries a 1MB backside cache, so it's not surprising that they all yielded similar results. The Newer upgrade produced the best scores, with the PowerLogix and XLR8 cards close on its heels. The Sonnet accelerator consistently lagged behind the other three. All four significantly outperformed a 350MHz blue-and-white Power Mac G3. ... read more at Macworld

MaxPowr G4/400/200/1MB - Newer Tech. (ZIF)

The CPUs are a cinch to install; you just plug the card into the ZIF socket and add a system extension. Although there were early reports that blue-and-white G3 systems would not accept G4 upgrades, the extensions appear to solve any compatibility issues; we encountered no unusual system crashes or other anomalies after installing the CPU upgrades ... read more at Macworld
