We have been pretty impressed with Tom Bihn's products. Click here for our review of the Tom Bihn ID case and Brain Cell. The latter sounds like what you are looking for... Bihn even makes backpacks/rucksacks that the Brain Cell clips into.

I just ordered a 12'' g4 ibook on the Cram and Jam offer and whilst I wait for it, I'm quite interested in finding a carry case which isn't really a carry case.

See, I plan on carrying it in my rucksack but obviously, i don't want a pile of textbooks, pens and other crap scratching it's precious surface. Basically I want a case for the ibook which is very minimalist, with no huge pockets, straps or so on.

Could anybody recommend one?

[quote="<around>"]Just an "FYI" I took the chance and loaded X onto a 2nd rev. tangerine Ibook, 300mhz, with 320 meg of ram, 4 meg vram, and I must say that it works much better than expected. Not a speed demon of course but acceptable considering the specs. To see the OS X comments it takes a lot of horsepower but if this Itang is any indication, the new ibooks should be fine, especially with more ram and OS X native apps. One note, though. I did a system profile on this itang and it indicated L2 cache of 512. Is this the same cache on the new ibooks and if so, did they lower the cache and raise it again or is it the "running at processor speed" cache that is the difference?[/quote

Are you using 10.3.4 of OS X? Question Question

If you want to do wireless networking you have to have an Airport Base Station. You then have to make sure your Mac is equiped with an Airport Card. If you do not have these two things then it will not work. Unfortunately I do not no of any work arounds.

If you do not wish to use Wireless network, then you will have to aquire a modem cable which will run from the modem port to your telephone wall socket.

Cheers

Ben

P.S. OS 9 = Operating system 9
OS X AKA OS 10 = Operating system 10
You might have a dual booting mac whereby you may choose which operating system you want to use.

I'm a new father--9 month-old twin boys--trying to juggle home life, an increasingly fast-paced career as a fundraiser, a burgeoning "pseudo-career" as an author, and an MBA program. I have assessed my computing needs and determined that the 12" iBook G4 is the best computer for me.

Here's the problem: I have a budget of $250-$500 (preferably on the LOW side of that).

HELP! Where can I find an iBook for that kind of cash?

I do not want to use credit. I do not want to use loans. I just want to buy the computer outright. I've tried online auctions, pawn shops, discount warehouses, etc.

Any tips you can provide would be most helpful.

You can email me at putnamm@myway.com.

Thanks!

Love the IBook! I have the 12" screen with built in wireless. Great for travel. I watch DVD's on the plane, listen to Itunes. Wireless has been the best when traveling and getting stuck with a layover. Apple rules!
Best part is I got if from one of the Offercentric sites. A friend got one that way, so I gave it a shot. They rock!

Here is the link if you are interested

I should like to have some accurate answers on the reliability of buying a second hand Ibook., Considering two have bitten the dust in hardware complications.

Any ideas fellow Ibook users?

WOw.. No.

Look into it, I would say. Airport cards are a dime a dozen second hand, esp/ considering the newer ones have em standaard.

50 euro and I'll ship you mine.
